Inventory and COGS that reach your P&L

What you hold, what it cost, and what it did to your margin.

Know what is on the shelf, what it cost, and what each sale really earned. Stock and cost of goods sold move with every purchase and sale, so your margin is there without a month-end count spreadsheet.

Profit and Loss report in DynaTax AI for a sample business

Cost of goods sold, as its own line in your Profit and Loss. Sample data.

What it does

Track stock, value it, and let cost of goods sold hit your P&L as it should.

Cost of goods sold, automatically

Selling an item moves its cost out of inventory and into COGS in the same entry.

Valuation reports

Inventory valuation, summary and detail, plus a physical count worksheet.

Wired to your accounts

Items carry their income, COGS and asset accounts, so inventory posts where an accountant expects.

How it works

How inventory & COGS works

  1. 1

    Add items

Name, SKU, cost and the income, COGS and asset accounts they use.

  2. 2

    Buy and sell

Purchases increase stock; invoicing an item moves its cost into cost of goods sold.

  3. 3

    Count and value

Run a valuation report or a physical count worksheet when you take stock.

The details

Inventory & COGS, in detail

FIFO, LIFO or average cost

Each item carries its valuation method: first in first out, last in first out, or average cost, which is the default. Costing and valuation reports follow the method you set.

Reorder before you run out

Set a reorder point and reorder quantity per item, with the supplier and their SKU. You know what to buy and from whom before the shelf is empty.

Purchase orders into stock

Raise a purchase order with a vendor and receive against it when the goods arrive. An open purchase order list shows what is still on the way.

Sold from your item list

Link a product on your list to an inventory item. When it goes on an invoice, the quantity drops and its cost moves into cost of goods sold.

Trust

Your books, on your terms

Read-only bank connection

You sign in on your bank’s own screen. DynaTax AI can see balances and transactions. It can’t move money.

You stay in control

Nothing posts without your approval, except merchants you’ve already confirmed above the auto-post threshold.

Your data isn’t training data

Your data isn’t used to train AI unless you turn on Allow AI Training. It’s off by default.

A professional when you want one

Invite your own CPA into your books, or find one in the marketplace. Dyna’s answers are general information, not professional advice.
