Fixed assets and depreciation, without the spreadsheet
Assets that depreciate themselves, on schedule.
A big purchase is not a one-month expense. Add the asset once and DynaTax AI works out the depreciation each year, so your profit reads right and nobody keeps a schedule in a spreadsheet.

What it does
A register of what you own, with depreciation calculated and posted for you.
A register, not a folder
Cost, in-service date, method and accumulated depreciation live together per asset.
It posts to the books
Depreciation is a journal entry in your ledger, not a number in a side calculation.
Built from a transaction
A large purchase in your bank feed can become an asset without re-typing it.
How it works
How fixed assets & depreciation works
- 1
Add the asset
Cost, date placed in service, useful life and method — or build it from the purchase already in your books.
- 2
Depreciation is calculated
The schedule is worked out for you rather than kept in a spreadsheet.
- 3
It posts
Depreciation lands as a journal entry, so your balance sheet and P&L stay right.
The details
Fixed assets & depreciation, in detail
IRS recovery periods built in
Pick the class and MACRS does the rest: 5 years for vehicles and computers, 7 for furniture and most machinery, 15 for land improvements, 27.5 for residential rental and 39 for commercial property.
Section 179 when it fits
Deduct a qualifying asset in full in the year it goes into service, instead of over its life. It is a cash-flow choice as much as a tax one, so decide it with your accountant.
Half-year and mid-quarter
The MACRS conventions are applied for you, including the mid-quarter rule that can kick in when most of a year’s purchases land in the final quarter.
Why profit is high and cash is low
Buying an asset moves cash into the balance sheet; only depreciation reaches the P&L. Your cash flow report shows where the money went in a heavy buying year.
Trust
Your books, on your terms
Read-only bank connection
You sign in on your bank’s own screen. DynaTax AI can see balances and transactions. It can’t move money.
You stay in control
Nothing posts without your approval, except merchants you’ve already confirmed above the auto-post threshold.
Your data isn’t training data
Your data isn’t used to train AI unless you turn on Allow AI Training. It’s off by default.
A professional when you want one
Invite your own CPA into your books, or find one in the marketplace. Dyna’s answers are general information, not professional advice.
