Drake Trial Balance Import

Drake Tax Software uses Trial Balance format for business entities (Form 1120-S, 1065, 1120). DynaTax exports an Excel file with GL account totals mapped to Drake codes.

Supported Entity Types

  • Form 1120-S: S-Corporation returns
  • Form 1065: Partnership returns
  • Form 1120: C-Corporation returns
  • Schedule C: Transaction-level CSV (not Trial Balance)

Drake Import Format

The export includes two levels:

  1. Summary Level (Main tab): GL account totals mapped to Drake codes
    • L = Schedule L (Balance Sheet)
    • INC = Income (Form 1120-S, page 1)
    • DED = Deductions (Form 1120-S, page 1)
    • A = Form 1125-A (COGS)
    • K = Schedule K (Pass-through items)
  2. Detail Level (17 worksheets): Line-item breakdowns (up to 30 items each)

Full Specification: DynaTax maintains complete Drake 1120-S import specification documentation. Contact support for the detailed Excel template.

Schedule C Export (CSV Format)

For sole proprietors (Schedule C), DynaTax exports a transaction-level CSV with line-item details:

CSV Headers

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Drake support direct TXF import?

No. Unlike ProSeries/Lacerte, Drake does not support TXF auto-import. Drake uses proprietary Trial Balance format for business entities and CSV for Schedule C transactions.

Can I edit data after importing to Drake?

Yes. All imported data can be edited within Drake. The import is a starting point; you should review and adjust as needed before filing.

What if my Drake version doesn't support the import format?

DynaTax provides the data in standard CSV/Excel format. If automatic import doesn't work, you can manually enter the data using the exported file as a reference. Contact Drake support for version-specific import instructions.
